Strawfields is the best!! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Such a perfect place. Kids can run free, Cottages are lovely and super cosy after a day exploring and Alex is brilliant. Alpacas, homemade pizzas, loads of space and beautiful views. What’s not to like 🙌
Picture perfect childhood holiday ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
We’ve had such a wonderful time exploring North Devon beaches with the kids, everything is so close to the cottage! The land the cottage is on is what childhood memories are made of, the boys loved the trampolines, visiting the animals and having the games room next door. Incredible, thank you!
Lovely welcoming farm ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
We really enjoyed our stay in Stables Cottage. The cottage was cosy, clean and well-equipped, and the children really enjoyed meeting the animals, the trampoline and go karts. Great selection of books and toys in the cottage too. Thank you Alex for making us so welcome!
Hidden Gem ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
We stayed in the Stables cottage, which was beautiful with a high end finish and a lot of attention to detail. The countryside location was perfect and within easy reach with a car to Woolacombe & surrounding area . We would definitely recommend a stay at Strawfields.
Beautiful, peaceful location ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
I stayed in Owl Cottage with family members. Other family members camped. The cottage was lovely, comfortable and well equipped with views over the valley and fields. We all enjoyed the ‘make your own pizza’ night and the children loved the variety of animals. Alex and family were very welcoming and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. A lovely location just a short drive from Ilfracombe and Woolacombe with it’s wonderful beaches. The weather could have been better, but we all enjoyed our stay!
Lovely place to stay ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Lovely place to stay. Stayed in the Stables cottage, lovely building and garden. It’s now agreed 8 and 11 enjoyed the trampolines and table tennis, and we all enjoyed meeting the alpacas. Alex the owner was friendly and helpful. The Straw Patch Project kitchen garden is great, and their bean chilli was delicious.
Lovely, comfortable cottage on amazing farm ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
We loved Strawfields! We stayed in the Stables cottage which was super pretty and comfortable with all the amenities and a lovely private garden, perfect for the dog. The only comment we can think of is that bed in the main bedroom is a bit small, we prefer to have some more space. But, the bedroom does have its own little en suite bathroom though. The grounds of the farm are gorgeous and have everything the kids could ask for with trampolines, open fields and cute animals. The camping spots also look amazing. We loved having waffles at the pop up farm cafe and Alex and the rest of the staff are just the nicest. There are plenty of lovely beaches and other things to visit close by, so well worth a visit! We’d definitely go again if we’re around.
Perfect! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Arriving at the venue in the middle of the countryside, peaceful and beautiful, we were already happy! The cottage was spotless and airy with a pretty outside area plus lovely views. The cottage had everything that we needed with comfort provided. My granddaughter loved the play area and all the animals plus the daily go on the go carts! It is the best holiday booking we have made in years. Highly recommended and we want to come back soon please! Alex is welcoming and helpful and has established a wonderful experience for all, thank you.
4 night stay at Stables Cottage ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
My family of 4 adults plus a dog had a very comfortable stay at Strawfields. Alex was very helpful when I couldn’t master the online booking! The cottage is just as described with everything one needs for a self- catered stay. However, we found a couple of dog friendly pubs close by that served good food. Overall a great success for our get together, and warmly recommended.
Perfect ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
We loved staying at strawfields, the owl barn had such a beautiful view and ample space for the 4 of us. It was so lovely to see the animals in the morning and we even got to give them a shower. Thanks Alex, we felt really at home here and will definitely be coming again.

Fantastic stay at Strawfields ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
We had a lovely stay at Strawfields in the spacious and comfortable Owl Barn. Alex was a wonderful host and showed us the animals and we helped feed them. Our little one had a great time here and at the nearby attractions. Thanks again!
Lovely stay, lovely people! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Really enjoyed our stay in the Owl Barn – it had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. Great location for lots of family fun. The kids loved the trampolines and games room. The pizza nights and breakfast cafe were highlights for us and the kids had loads of fun making friends with other children.
A lovely stay ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Strawfields is the perfect location to escape and switch off in the countryside. The facilities were great for children and the highlights were definitely pizza night and feeding the animals. Our daughter absolutely loved walking the ponies!
Gorgeous cottage ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
We couldn’t have asked for more with regards to Owl Barn cottage. Spacious, clean, everything you need for a comfortable stay. The kids (11 & 7) loved the games room and outdoor play area. The only thing that let us down was the weather! Alex was welcoming and helpful. Pizza night was the best, fresh ingredients, homemade and the sun shone! We will definitely return to this wonderful peaceful place when hopefully we can enjoy the outdoor activities more.
Lovely peaceful spot ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
I’ve just returned from a week in Owl Cottage with my husband and adult daughter. Owl cottage is well appointed and very comfortable. The location is ideal for the north and west coast, Woolacombe is only 10 min away. We rarely return to the same place twice but we’d definitely consider coming back here.
The Stables Strawfields is so special ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Strawfields is a special place. Our favourite is the animals. A very friendly pygmy goat. Alpacas are cute and we managed to get close to them. Pigs grunting nicely as we were leaving. The Stables is probably the best holiday accomodation we have ever stayed in Britain. Everything top class. We walked around Strawfields and are impressed by the huts and campsite. Also next to us is the vegetable garden which is lovely. We would come back to the Stables as it is so pleasant. I (Tom) was on holiday this time to complete a lifetime running challenge. I ran Woolacombe parkrun as it is considered the toughest parkrun in the UK. It is my 100th 5K I have previously run 100 10Ks and also 100 half marathons. Woolacombe beach parkrun completed the triple century challenge. Few British runners have managed this in a lifetime. North Devon is beautiful and only our second time there. We would recommend Strawfields and North Devon to others for sure.
Wonderful stay ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
This is our second time at Strawfields and we were so happy to come back. We stayed in the Stables cottage which is lovely – rustic and spacious for a family of four. It is a peaceful location with beautiful views and plenty for the children to play and explore including the animals and play equipment. The hosts are very friendly and helped make our stay a special one. The pizza evening was another lovely touch. Great location for fantastic beaches. Lots of happy memories.

Fabulous stay ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Absolutely loved this campsite. Perfect balance of wild camping and comfort. So much space between sites, all of which feel really spacious yet secluded. A little brook bubbling nearby, ponies at the fence next to us, beautiful field views and lots of tree shelter. The facilities are lovely, with great spaces for washing up. The toilets are clean and flushing, and the lovely rustic rain style shower was HOT. It’s a really lovely, quiet but friendly site. Planning another trip with my kids already.
Peaceful and great location ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
We stayed in a Shepherds hut with our 2 children 7 & 12 years old for 3 nights. A lovely peaceful site with great huts with all we would need for seating and cooking etc. The shower and toilet next to our hut was fine and rustic. The kids had a fantastic time cooking marshmallows on the campfire and playing in the kids area on the trampoline. Great host , great place and a short drive to some beautiful areas of Devon. What more could you want?
Wonderful memories ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
This was our first camping trip alone as a family, and it was a wonderful experience. Alex was very responsive to any questions that we had prior to the visit. We stayed at Twitty Meadow Deluxe B, right next to the ponies! The campsite was clean and quiet, and only a short drive to Woolacoombe beach or Lee Bay for some rock pools. The children loved to play in the shallow stream, and to play football or frisbee in the meadow. The showers were hot and toilets clean. The little shelter provided with the pitch was well used on rainy mornings to eat breakfast, and the picnic table was very helpful as one less thing to pack. We can’t wait to come back another year. Thank you Strawfields.
Beautiful, relaxing site ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
We stayed on a deluxe pitch in Twitty Meadows field which was fantastic, so well thought out with the shelter, sofa and cooking station, it really made our camp feel so much more comfortable. The site itself is all really well laid out and looked after and it was a pleasure to meet the lovely owner who was always really helpful too. The animal feeding session was fab for our children too, they loved that, a great extra experience on the site. Thank you for a fab week, would highly recommend.
Amazing!!! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Such a great place to stay! I’ve never done this kind of accommodation before but it was an experience and a good one! Loved the showers outside in the little building, loved making the fires but if you want a quick cuppa make sure you bring a camping stove, I’m not the best at fire making!! Alex was so kind to lend us a stove which made all the difference, pizza night was the best! The animals are lovely especially the donkeys! Shepherds hut was lovely and cosy, enough room for me, my wife and 5 year old to sleep in the double bed, the other huts are spread out really well so you can’t hear anything coming from the other huts, great location! Close to all the beaches ( 10 min drive ) we will definitely be returning and possibly with the extended family!
A Devon delight! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Alex and team at Strawfields have created not only a beautiful space to camp, but a real community centred endeavour in a stunning part of the country. The facilities are excellent, and the additional features in the Deluxe pitches made for a really effortless stay, even when the weather was being very British. The pop up pizza and waffle events were first class, and getting to meet the animals was a highlight for the kids. We would heartily recommend a visit to Strawfields, and really hope to make a return visit one day! One of our best camping holidays! 😊
Remote and nice cabin ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Tidy, clean, quiet, warm cabin in the heart of Devon. Good for families and couples. Comfy bed if a little short. No handle on inside of door so makes it a little awkward to open. But no real complaints.
Beautiful farm glamping site ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
A beautiful place. Our shepherds hut had everything we needed. A firepit to cook and boil water, outdoor kitchen, hot shower a private loo. Lots of space to run about and explore. Good distance between the huts. We loved going up the hill to the farmhouse to see the animals each day, and our little boy loved the trampolines and slide. Ilfracombe beach is just 10 mins drive and there’s a lovely pub nearly if you fancy a Sunday roast 🙂 Overall, a beautiful peaceful spot. We would definitely recommend it to others.
Perfect getaway ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
We travelled to Strawfields for a long weekend break. Location was spot on with being just 10-15 mins drive from the main beaches. The campsite itself was utterly charming and nothing was too much trouble for our host Alex, who invited ourselves and the other guests to feed the animals one morning which our two year old loved! The trampolines were a great little extra along with the play area. We stayed in the Nook which was very clean and had an incredibly comfortable bed, also a wonderfully warm shower which I was not expecting! We had mostly dry weather but the only downside is that the table and chairs are not under an awning which could be of huge benefit, space is just a bit limited if it were raining and you all wanted to eat together in the dry, but it didn’t stop us. Overall a great family bolthole – planning on returning next year for sure!
Fantastic ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Beautiful calm place loads of spaces between pitches/huts.
A wholesome glamping adventure 💖 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
A wonderful weekend spent in the Ilfracombe countryside, such a peaceful spot which felt so private. We had never been camping or glamping before and I feel we have been spoilt !! We bought a small gas stove for early Morning coffee, the Lyme kiln cafe is a must fit breakfast. And of course the children demanded a campfire for roasting marshmallows !! The most adorable animals and a little play area was fab too. We will be back next year and will recommend to friends and family.
What a place to stay ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
If you wish to unwind and go off grid this is the place. Your still close to main roads but still far enough just to see and hear the wild life. We stayed in the cabin so well set out and has the sun all day, I couldn’t expect anymore than what was available. Love this site and everything about it from owners to site to animal’s on site.
Awesome place ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
This is the third consecutive year we’ve been and will definitely be going again. A beautiful setting and everything you need for a relaxing break away.
All very good ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Had two nice days in the hut. Weather good which helped
Lovely site ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
We stayed for 6 nights in The Cabin and could have easily stayed for longer. The Cabin was perfect for us as we had a couple of days of rain so it was good to have some covered space so we could still be outside even in the rain. We really liked the site itself, the trampolines are a great addition for kids and the pizza night was fun. The location is great, 15mins from several different beaches. We would highly recommend this site to anyone.
Excellent Camping! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Another excellent stay (4 nights) at this lovely campsite! Have been several times now and love the feel of the place, as does our 4 year-old. Many things to do locally, including Woolacombe beach, and places to eat. Campsite facilities are great and one can feed the alpacas, as well as other animals! Highly recommended!
Another fabulous stay! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Thank you so much for another wonderful stay at Strawfields. The children had a lovely time exploring the grounds; and we enjoyed two days at Woolacombe making the most of the sunshine! Thanks again and we’ll see you next year! Katie, Lewis, William, Primrose and Ethel x
Peaceful, relaxed and restorative easy break ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
We found Strawfields online pre pandemic, this was the first time we’d managed to coordinate time off with pitch availability, and for many reasons our first holiday this year. No pressure then! And there wasn’t, we had loads of space, no time pressures, no need to plan dinner on the first night as we timed it for pizzas with waffles for breakfast, Alex (and Inca) helped our youngest get over her dog fear and eldest now wants to take on the family farm. The first time I’ve been on a site I’m happy to just stay on all day relaxing, where the children can play wildly but safely, that’s close to plenty of things to do when we wanted. One of those you deliberate not telling people about so it doesn’t get too busy to make it back!
Lovely campsite with lots of special touches ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Great campsite with really good facilities and thought through spaces. Toilets and kitchen area were always clean. The stream, slide and little play equipment kept the children amused. Pizza night and the breakfasts were really lovely and a great way to be sociable with the other campers. The kids loved the trampolines as well. Location is great for the beaches and other attractions. The top field is a little exposed but we didn’t have any problems despite some big storms whilst we were there.
Great Stay at Strawfields ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
This was our second visit to Strawfields and once again my grandson and I had a lovely stay. The tent pitches are very spacious and each pitch has its own picnic table. Pizza night is not to be missed when you are given the opportunity to create your own pizza, and the breakfast menu is superb. Alex and Nick run a fantastic site and seem a genuinely nice couple, so many thanks again for another wonderful stay. It may seem a drawback that cars are kept off site but children are kept in a safe environment and it’s not too much of an inconvenience to wheelbarrow your equipment to the nearby pitch area. Can thoroughly recommend.
Amazing ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
What a lovely place. Very laid back and peaceful but always felt there was someone would help if you had a problem. The breakfast and pizza evening are a lovely touch and my grandson loved lighting the fire and boiling the kettle on it. Perfect spot.
Perfect!! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Had such a wonderful time at Strawfields. This was our first camping trip as a family and Strawfields did not disappoint. We had the deluxe pitch in tweety meadow which had beautiful surroundings. The extra touches such as the hammock kept my 8yr old son amused and the outdoor catering area was perfect for under shelter food prepping. The pitch is well signed with clear instructions and helpful guidance. The outdoor toilet/shower facilities were always clean and tidy. Alex the host was amazing, being very accommodating. I would recommend the pizza evening hosted by Alex and her family, it was an absolute treat to make our own pizzas and then cooked in the outdoor pizza oven. The morning we left my son got to feed the animals that live on the farmhouse land alongside other happy campers and Alex. My son was impressed with the alpacas. All in all an excellent stay and we will be returning as we would like to try the huts that we saw.
Beautiful and rustic escape to nature ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
We loved this campsite. It is small and beautiful. The nature feels like it welcomes you in. The facilities are sympathetically done to blend in giving you all the thin gas you may need without spoiling the surroundings. We loved the sound of the stream, the campfires and exploring the wildlife. Sadly the weather wasn’t on our side so we never got to try the pizza oven night but had a great time anyway. I would
Nothing to get hung about .. Strawfields forever !! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Just returned home from the most chilled, relaxing and utterly enjoyable weekend staying in The Hut at Strawfields. Loved the self check-in, couldn’t have been easier. Clear instructions sent in advance and information boards and sign posts everywhere to guide you clearly to your booked spot. We stayed in The Hut, which we initially thought was the poor cousin of the huts and we think we misguidedly judged that on the fact that it was cheaper and the only one available …. But after staying in it and also having a peak at the other huts (we arrived before everyone else so we’re able to have a little peak through windows and at the outside areas) we realise that its anything BUT the poor cousin and actually an equal among huts as they all Have their own quirky and adorable points to suits the needs of couples and families alike. Beautifully separate form other huts yet you still feel Part of the campsite…the view all around is breathtaking and the silence is just perfect. We spent our first night with a barbecue followed by wine and nibbles next to a roaring fire pit. We both had a fab nights sleep, the bed was comfortable and the bedding .. including the homemade blanket was just perfect. The hut has a stain glass window which is so pretty with the sun shining through. The fairy lights are so pretty when the sun goes down and give the hut inside and out a warm happy feel. The hut has plenty of space for storage and hanging items. The outside kitchen is more than adequate, sheltered from Rain and wind we spent a lazy morning cooking breakfast whilst sat watching the rain pour down outside … ok so it should be sunny in August but the weather didn’t put us off one bit as the Hut caters for any weather… even having a log burner inside that we didn’t need to use but I have to say I was a little disappointed in that as I bet it’s super cosy with it lit. The outside shower and wee shack are a real asset – Although the flushing loos and shower block are a stones throw away – the shower was warm and powerful and the ‘Faith in nature’ shower gel, shampoo and conditioner provided are another added bonus. I was able to help Alex feed the Alpacas one morning and help her with a poorly pony .. as a crazy animal lover it felt like such a treat and one I’ll treasure. The farm cats and Dog are super friendly and the goats, ponies, pigs and Alpacas, sheep and ducks all add to the charm Of the area. Plenty of wide open play areas for kids and lots of lovely nooks and crannies to explore and enjoy for all ages. We popped down to Woolacombe and ilfracombe and used the big Tescos close by.. if the weather had been better we’d probably have walked to the next village and explored the surrounding area a bit more. We have come Away feeling happy, relaxed and like our batteries have been fully recharged … we are already looking at the next trip to stay there as it really was a fab trip away without any issues. If you want to experience the ‘outdoors’ with a good old rustic feel … Strawfields delivers … we love a bit of camping but this felt like camping without the hassle of setting up and packing so much kit. The huts are cute, quirky and utterly sufficient. USB charging slots are provided for Phones and other items. The farmhouse offers extra firewood, facility to freeze ice packs and has a cafe and pizza oven for specific pizza nights and breakfasts. There really wasn’t anything I could Think was missing … well other Than the sun but that’s not Strawfields at fault … and that said , we had such an amazing time there in the rain that we feel that speaks Volumes. Alex and family have really thought of it all … An amazing ‘glamping’ experience.. a much needed peaceful and relaxing break away … And really ‘nothing to get hung about’ Can’t wait to return ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
It was Wonderful! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
It is our second time here and it was again the best choice for us as family. The hosts are super friendly and helpful. The cabins are spotless and environmentally friendly. The space is exciting and safe for our 5 and 8 year old children to explore it and keep entertained. The nights are cosy and warm and, the location is excellent to explore the area around. The workshops and cafe were also perfect! Couldn’t recommend it more.
A lovely stay!! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
We stayed for 3 nights and it was so lovely to unwind and relax on this beautiful camp site. For two people who have very busy jobs, this was the perfect place for peace and tranquility. Our hut was cosy and the bed was so comfortable to sleep in. Having the log burner inside was such a nice touch also! Definitely came in handy when we had got back from a walk in the pouring rain. We loved using the outdoor firepit and toasted marshmallows and made s’mores. I loved sitting out here reading my book. The hammock was also a lovely added bonus. Alex and Nick were incredibly attentive and responded right away to any queries we had. We would 100% come stay here again and would recommend it to anyone who needs a few days to relax and unwind whilst taking in the gorgeous scenery of Ilfracombe. Thank you!!
