A Fun Hands-On Family Farm Experience

A unique and unforgettable adventure

Get up close and personal with the Strawfields family!  While all guests are welcome to join Alex for her morning rounds on Saturdays (also Tuesday & Thursday in School holidays), our Fun Hands-On Farm Animal Experience is perfect for those wanting a more personal, hands-on encounter.

  • Meet & Greet: Spend quality time with our friendly alpacas, ponies, goats, and sheep.

  • Hands-On Fun: Learn about their quirks, help with feeding their favourite treats and experience taking Maebelle and Inca over the agility course, on hot sunny days you can experience giving the alpacas a shower to cool off.

  • Perfect for Families: A wonderful way for children to have fun and learn about animals in a relaxed small farm setting.

Your adventure will start here at Strawfields by meeting our friendly alpacas, miniature ponies, and a variety of other farm animals. Discover their unique personalities as you feed them their favourite treats and learn about their funny mischievous ways and cheeky characters. Spend some hands-on time with the alpacas, ponies, goats and Inca, our friendly farm dogIt’s a personal experience which will be tailed to the activities you would like to do, and by the age of the children.  It is a truly fun and memorable experience for the whole family!  Please note that the Family Farm Experience does not involve walking the alpacas in the big field, but you will have plenty of time for photos and Rhubarb kisses!

Activity Leaders: Alex and Elsie

Duration: approx 30/40 mins

Price: £40 for one family

Suitable for all ages, the activities will be adapted to accommodate all.

Please note that this experience is only available for guests staying in one of the cottages, cabins or camping at Strawfields.

Supporting a Cause: Don’t forget that by enjoying the farm, you are supporting The Straw Patch Project, our on-site non-profit dedicated to community mental health and nature-based healing.  The Straw Patch groups help care for the animals in many ways, including to help mend fences, build agility courses and design goat shelters; whilst of course getting to feed and spend some important quiet time with them.
